This stereo recording was made on november 23, 2014 in brady, washington. The clip contains a union pacific freight train rolling at moderate speed through a rail crossing. As the train passes a crossing bell can be heard abruptly shutting off. This original recording was made using a zoom h-6 handy recorder with zoom stereo xy microphone. This was recorded in my kitchen next to a railway, late at night when there was maintenance going on on the line. A heavy unit called a tamper went past, tamping down the ballast (stones) that go under the tracks. Lots of sub-bass as the whole building gets vibrated and at -04:29 a balanced teapot lid puts itself onto the teapot. Zoom h4n, 24/48 wav exported to flac in audacity.
